We are on the telly!

We were asked by BBC Wales to go on the morning news programme to comment on the Wales Coast Path. They chose the chilliest spot in Criccieth so I wrapped up warm and enjoyed watching how such a programme of live news is put together. Everything is synchronised and could go wrong at any moment. I was happy to be able to tell them that the Coast Path has led to a big surge in enquiries from overseas from people who want to be part of this novel idea, a path all the way around a country. UK walkers are more sceptical “I’ll believe it when I see it”
Lots of high tec kit here which they need to stay in touch with the other teams around Wales who are also beaming in news at the same time.

The BBC liked the interview so much that they asked me back for the 6 O’clock news. Here I am with Quentin Grimley of CCW who has worked tirelessly for 5 years putting this route and all the associated works together. It has been a significant achievement-a bit like winning the Grand Slam. The work on the ground is done by the Local Authorities, but CCW is the paymaster on behalf of the Welsh Government and directs the work.

    1. Thank you for your comment. We now have a continuous path around the coast but everybody concerned knows that there is room for improvement. There is a lot of work being undertaken at the moment improving signage and taking in new access areas. See my post of Wednesday the 23rd of May for a very big section of the Cilan headland which is newly opened.
