Hedgerows about to explode (with flowers)

As April turns to May those of us lucky enough to be in North Wales are treated to a minor miracle, the sudden appearance of the hedgerow flowers.

Blue bells and primroses give way to Red Campion and cow parsley.

The hedges themselves turn white, first with sloe blossoms and then with Hawthorn.

The sight and smell as you walk the lanes is a treat in itself. And the exposed slopes on the top of the coastal cliffs have their own species, particularly the lovely pink flowers of thrift.

  1. This takes me back to many childhood walks along the lanes, and i am now lucky enough to be able to give my two boys the treat a couple of times a year on our holidays to Aberdaron.....certainly a very tranquil beautiful part of the world
