Feeling fit this weekend?

We were reading the news on the Snowdonia Society's webpage, and saw this article about the upcoming Conwy Mountain Triathalon on Sunday the 8th of September. Unfortunately both Peter and I just happen to be busy with various unavoidable family engagements. Otherwise we would be leaping at the chance to show off our (ahem) awesome physical fitness ;-).

If anyone a bit braver, and a bit less doughy round the middle than us is planning to go, then let us know in the comments below or via twitter or facebook. We'd also love to post any photos you would like to share. Hwyl!

From the Snowdonia Society:
This event on 8th Sepember involves kayaking on the river Conwy, a fell run and finally a mountain bike section in the Gwydyr forest. There are two classes, one for teams of three, with each member doing one section, and one for individuals.

The facilities at the Nant Conwy Rugby Club include a superb bar area with terrace overlooking the stage 2 transition, free Wi-Fi, hot showers, projection facilities for the live results service, plenty of parking and camping areas, and an almost purpose built rail for parking 130 bikes at the bike transition.  Event registration and the bar will be open on Saturday evening for those arriving on Saturday.

All profits from the event will be for the Snowdonia Society for its work protecting, enhancing and celebrating Snowdonia.

The organisers are hoping for many local entries as well as competitors from further afield.

Further information and online entry is available from www.map17events.org.uk

To ensure the Triathlon has minimal environmental impact the organisers have sourced environmentally friendly ‘goodies’ to go into recycled paper bags with competitor numbers and race details.  At refreshment stations there will be biodegradable cups rather that plastic bottles and they will contain local, excellent quality tap water.

Volunteers are needed for many tasks including marshalling, managing parking, helping to move boats and handing out drinks. If you would like to help please contact netticollister@hotmail.com
