Last weekend we were very happy to host a group doing a sponsored walk for the Burton Breast Care Fund. There were 11 walkers, all associated with the Branston Golf and Country Club in Burton on Trent. They stayed overnight in Manaros and the local B&B Dolfor 2 and enjoyed a fine evening meal at the Ship Hotel in Aberdaron. After a hearty breakfast, cooked by myself, I dropped them off in our minibus at Penllech beach from where they walked the total of 20 miles back around the coast path to Aberdaron, which took them a total of 8 and a half hours. On a day when there had been rain overnight, and a lot of wind, that was a creditable achievement. They had the foresight to bring a minibus and so were able to end the walk with a glass of champagne. Cheers to them!

Would like to thank Edge of Wales Walk for their help in planning the route for our sponsored walk and the hospitality we received at the Manaros and the local B&B Dolfor 2. We were all very proud of ourselves for achieving this challenge in the time we did it in. Thank you once again Lady Captain of Branston Golf club 2013 and her team of walkers x
ReplyDeleteA big thank you to Peter for making us so welcome. I have never had such luxurious accomadation when walking and although I enjoyed the visit to the pub I will be requesting Peter's fish pie when I return. Having walked The West Highland Way, with a full overnight rucksack, Hadrians Wall in torrential rain and The Dales Highway, this was a tough 20 miles in the weather conditions. However I would recommend the route for anyone who wants a coastal walk that is actually next to the sea and for the beautiful scenery. As always when walking in a group new friendships were formed and old ones cemented. We raised a substantial amount of money for a local charity and had a fabulous time doing it!
