Tornado Hits Llangollen!
I was on my way along the A5 on Saturday when a Tornado hit Llangollen, not a great wind, but a steam train - the Tornado, a £3m newly built main line steam express locomotive, number 60163 to be precise. It’s the green one in the photos. There were 9 other steam locos doing a regular shuttle service up the private line that runs from Llangollen to Carrog. This line is now being extended all the way to Corwen. What an attraction it was! Hundreds of steam enthusiasts were in attendance and the town was buzzing. The familiar sounds of engines hooting and hissing filled the valley and it was great to see the stations along the line all busy and every vantage point packed with onlookers. A regular service runs during the summer and this is a great way to access the walks and to explore the Dee Valley.
